MARLBORO COUNTY — Members of the Bennettsville-Cheraw Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. sponsored a trip to Columbia, South Carolina to attend the Lady Gamecocks versus the Ole Miss Rebels basketball game held at Colonial Arena Sunday, February 22nd. Participants included twenty-four members of Delta Academy and Delta Gems, along with sorority members, and parents.

The atmosphere was immediately charged the moment the participants entered the arena, turning the space into a vibrant, musical celebration as the participants witnessed the Lady Gamecocks warm-ups, while Cocky, the mascot energized the crowd. Once the game began, it was amazing to watch the young ladies get caught up in the excitement when the two teams hit the court and the overwhelming sense of Gamecock pride swelled within the arena.

This experience gave the young ladies the opportunity to be inspired by high-level basketball competitors. They witnessed on the court teamwork, resilience, and perseverance in action; all skills that are important not only on the court, but also in life. After helping to cheer the Lady Gamecocks to an 85-48 victory over Ole Miss Revels, the group had a delicious meal at Kiki‘s Chicken and Waffles.
