BENNETTSVILLE — The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Sigma Omega Chapter, recently recognized several Sorors for their exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to sisterhood during its annual awards presentation.
The Soror of the Year Award was presented to Shakeia Henry, an exemplary Soror whose dedication to the chapter and commitment to community service have been demonstrated through sustained leadership and impactful service. Henry has taken the lead on multiple chapter and sorority initiatives and will also be recognized at the South Atlantic Regional Conference.
The Outstanding New Soror Award was awarded to Sonya Bryant-Holland for her exceptional dedication and deep commitment to the chapter as a new Soror. Through leadership, service, and meaningful sisterly contributions, Bryant-Holland has made an immediate and lasting impact.
The Chairman of the Year Award was presented to Adrienne Hersey for taking her leadership role within the chapter to new heights. Her outstanding leadership skills and ability to accomplish exceptional results have strengthened the chapter’s initiatives and overall effectiveness.
The Service to All Mankind Award was awarded to Patricia Henegan, recognizing her selfless commitment to volunteerism and service that goes beyond the normal call of duty, positively impacting the community through consistent and meaningful outreach.
The Shining Pearl Award was presented to Tonya Johnson, honoring her genuine sisterly compassion, love for her Sorors, and dedication to going the extra mile in service to the community.
The Reclaimed Ivy Award was awarded to Robyn Johnson for her exceptional efforts in reclaiming the greatest number of Sorors during the year, strengthening active membership and reinforcing the bonds of sisterhood within the chapter.
Through these recognitions, the Upsilon Sigma Omega Chapter continues to celebrate excellence, leadership, and its commitment to Service to All Mankind.
In addition, the chapter extends a special congratulations to Soror Eva Chiphe, recipient of the Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Spirit Award. This distinguished honor was presented among chapters throughout the Pee Dee and Midlands areas, recognizing Soror Chiphe for exemplifying the spirit, values, and enduring legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated through her service, dedication, and sisterly commitment.
