Marlboro native to play for Buffalo Bills

Marlboro County native Noah Henderson received a call on April 29 that he had been waiting for.

Henderson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft.

“It is surreal,” he said. “I am just ready to change my life and my family’s life. I am going to handle my business.”

He is a 2018 graduate of Marlboro County High School and a 2022 graduate of East Carolina University.

He did start playing football in his junior year at MCHS.

Henderson was an offensive lineman for the ECU Pirates. He played 35 games and had 1,890 snaps.

He is a native of Wallace, and his mother is Simone Odom of Wallace.

“I had been sitting around for four months not knowing whether or not I was going to get a phone call,” he said. “But I stayed true to myself, got up everyday, and worked out.”

Henderson was at MCHS on Monday. He attended the athletic signing of basketball player Tysonia Lowe and spoke to student-athletes at the end of the signing.

“I love to see the young talent coming from Marlboro and going to the next level,” he said. “I want more people up there with me representing where we come from.”

He will report to the rookie minicamp in May.

One thing, Henderson emphasized to students, is that it is real when you get out of high school and go to the next level.

“Your character will put you a lot further than anything you can do,” he said.

Henderson added that everyone in the room had the talent to reach the next level.

“But you have got to control what you control,” he said. “You have to stay out of the streets. Stay strong to yourself and keep the faith.”
