MCCOLL — On April 1, 2025, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest and charging of Shakyra Brand with Manslaughter. This incident took place in the McColl area of Marlboro County.
“The ongoing investigation yielded sufficient evidence, including statements and autopsy results, to obtain arrest warrants,” said MCSO Chief Deputy Larry Turner.
The suspect was apprehended without incident at a residence in the Dillon and transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center, where she faced a judge on Wednesday.
Bond was denied, records show.
“This tragic incident resulted in another life lost prematurely and another individual’s freedom curtailed due to what investigators believe to be a deadly argument,” said Turner.
