The College of Education at the University of South Carolina is looking at ways to combat the teacher shortage by finding qualified individuals.

An information session about the Carolina Transition to Teaching Residency will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Marlboro County High School.

The Carolina Transition to Teaching Residency is a residency graduate program designed for professionals of any field who are interested in shifting from their current profession to becoming teachers in South Carolina. The 18-month program will provide both professional and financial support as you simultaneously pursue a master’s degree in teaching.

All Carolina Teaching residents will:

–Engage in two-week-long summer institutes with a STEM focus.

–Enroll in a full-time Master’s Degree program.

–Co-teach alongside a classroom teacher mentor for the 2023-24 school year.

–Achieve South Carolina Teacher Licensure.

–Receive support from the College of Education faculty.
