BENNETTSVILLE—The Friends of the Marian Wright Edelman Library hosted a local author book launch Saturday. Authors Carolyn P. Jenkins and Antoinette Balfour shared their works with a packed audience.

Jenkins wrote a non-fiction book titled Blazing Toward Freedom, which tells the story of South Carolina native Septima Poinsette Clark and her role in the Civil Rights Movement.

Balfour shared her children’s book, My Hero Search, which is the story of a young person’s search for a hero only to discover that the hero they had been looking for wasn’t very far away at all.

State Rep. Patricia Moore Henegan moderated the book discussion.
