On April 30, John Davis II, a Marlboro County native graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg with Summa Cum Laude Honors and an overall 4.0 GPA. During Davis’ time at the University of South Carolina Upstate, he was very involved on campus and in the community. He served as a Chancellor’s Ambassador, Peer Leader for University 101 Freshman Students, is a member of Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, Tri-Alpha National Honor Society for First Generation students, Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society, and sang on the USC Upstate Gospel Choir. He was honored to receive the C. Wright Mills Award for his outstanding academic achievements from the department of Sociology at the university, and he served as the campus’ king after being named Mister Spirit of Upstate Elect 2024-25. He was also rewarded the Jefferson Foundation’s Students In Action Award that was signed by academy award winner Whoopi Goldberg for his exceptional community involvement.
