On May 18, at around 7:40 pm, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Patrol Division responded to Hwy 15-401 Bypass in the Bennettsville area of Marlboro County in reference to a subject stating his truck was stolen after he was pistol-whipped. Deputies responded and spoke with Timothy Wayne Jacobs, 39 of Bennettsville. Jacobs stated that he was traveling near Breeden St. and Atkins St. when a masked subject pistol-whipped him before stealing his company vehicle. Jacobs provided a written statement to the reporting deputy along with information pertaining to the stolen vehicle. The Criminal Investigations Division was notified and did respond.
Later that evening, the reported stolen vehicle was located in the Clio area of Marlboro County. The vehicle was wrecked and badly damaged. Through an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division, and an admission by Jacobs that he wrecked his company vehicle and that he was not assaulted nor was the vehicle stolen, an arrest warrant was obtained for Jacobs for filing a false police report of a felony. On May 29th, Jacobs turned himself in at the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office. Jacobs was escorted to the Marlboro County Detention Center for booking.
