An arrest has been made in Marlboro County following a collaborative effort to seek justice for the victims of an often hard to track crime involving electronic dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography material this Monday morning.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant located at Hillcrest apartment complex with the assistance of multiple agencies to include SC Probation Parole & Pardon Services and Homeland Security. As a result of the search numerous electronic devices were recovered that will be processed by SLED as well as assistance from the SC Department of Corrections.

Investigator Amanda Hill has been assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) for South Carolina and has led the Investigation within our Office. As a result of this investigation, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office in a collaborative effort with SC Probation, Parole & Pardon Service, SLED and ICE have charged a juvenile in connection to dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography material.

The juvenile will be transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia where he will be held pending the adjudication of his case. While this arrest was completed today, the investigation is still ongoing.

The name of this offender will not be released at this time given his status as a juvenile.
