Several domestic violence incidents occurred in the weeks leading up to December 25th when a shooting occurred as a result of an ongoing domestic violence situation. Prior to this incident law enforcement was unaware of the issues in the home, but on this date the female party was forced to defend herself resulting in the male party, Nicholas Zapetis being shot several times.
Medical aid was provided and the subject was transported to the hospital following the incident. Warrants were sought and issued for two counts of Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature for Zapetis immediately following the incident.
On January 8, 2024, Zapetis was released from the hospital and immediately taken into custody by investigators with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division. He was transported to the MCDC on the domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature charges without incident where he awaited a bond. Additional Charges may be forthcoming.
On January 9, 2024 bond was denied for Zapetis and a mental health evaluation was ordered. This case was investigated by Investigator Hill.
