BENNETTSVILLE—Bennettsville Police are investigating a Saturday night shooting that left two people injured.
According to BPD Lt. Shawn Lucas, the shooting didn’t happen in downtown.
“Around nine o’clock Saturday night, they were having a party on Main. Through the investigation, we found that several shots were fired near the down west area of Bennettsville. Two individuals were actually shot. As far as I know right now, they’re going to be all right. One is going through therapy and the other one is maybe still in the hospital.”
Lucas said their names haven’t been released as the investigation is still ongoing.
“As far as what we know, we heard it was a drive-by, but it wasn’t in the downtown area,” he said. “We believe that the individual followed (the victims) to a location and that’s where it happened.”
Both of the victims in the shooting were from Cheraw.
