Elevate Dance Academy competed in the Ultimate Invitational Championship held by the Platinum National Dance Competition at the Emerald Coast Convention Center in Destin, Fla. on July 16-17.
On July 16 and 17, Elevate Dance Academy competed in the Ultimate Invitational Championship held by the Platinum National Dance Competition at the Emerald Coast Convention Center in Destin, FL.
Led by owner and instructor Courtney Odom, Elevate participated with 118 other dance studios from 30 states. As the name of the competition implies, this is an invitation-only dance competition, and Elevate earned their exclusive opportunity by being noticed for their unique choreography and troupe of talented dancers.
Elevate brought home several distinguished adjudications, including the top award- Double Platinum- for their crowd-pleasing routine “Please Don’t Stop the Music”, and championships for their respective categories for “Bang-Bang” (Junior Tap), “Girl Party” (Mini Jazz), and again “Please Don’t Stop the Music” (Production). They also won the Judges Award for “Crisp and Clean” for their production performance.
The top eight performances from each of the five sessions were invited to the Gala on Sunday to battle for the title of Champion.
During session two, “Please Don’t Stop the Music” was named top eight out of 51 dances.
During the Gala, Elevate Dance Academy was named the second-place overall champion in the intermediate category.
“I am extremely proud of the dedication and teamwork of each student,” Odom said. “They have worked hard perfecting their technique, presentation, and choreography. I am so thankful for these dancers and their parents. We love big and dance hard.”
Elevate looks forward to several local showcases in the coming months as well as the beginning of the 2023 show season.
If interested in joining Elevate Dance Academy, the recreational dance team sign-ups are August 15 and 16 from 4-7 p.m., and competition dance team try-outs are August 22-24 from 4-7 p.m.
