SUMTER — In their toughest test of the young season, the Bulldogs proved once again that resilience travels.
Facing a fired‑up Crestwood Knights squad on their home turf, Marlboro County delivered clutch plays on both sides of the ball to secure a 28–21 win and keep their undefeated streak alive.
The Knights struck early, feeding off the energy of their home crowd to take a quick lead. But the Bulldogs responded with poise. Quarterback Tre Blakeney orchestrated a balanced attack, mixing timely passes with strong runs to march down the field and tie the game.
From there, the battle became a back‑and‑forth showcase of grit: Crestwood threatened multiple times, but Marlboro County’s defense tightened when it mattered most, forcing key third‑down stops and limiting explosive plays. With Crestwood rallying late, the Bulldogs delivered a decisive drive capped by a red‑zone touchdown to extend the lead to 28–21.
The defense then sealed the win with a final stand as the Knights attempted to tie the game. This wasn’t just another victory — it was a statement. Road games test discipline, toughness, and composure, and Marlboro County showed they have all three.
The Bulldogs have now proven they can win blowouts, grind out close games, and stay locked in under pressure. That versatility is the hallmark of a team built for a deep run. Players echoed the sentiment, emphasizing how the team’s chemistry and preparation carried them through the toughest moments.
With a 3–0 record and confidence surging, the Bulldogs return home next week with a chance to push their undefeated streak even further. The community is buzzing, the players are locked in, and the season is shaping up to be something special.
