MARLBORO COUNTY — Two of our very own, Gabriella Murillo and Kiersten Graham did it again, bringing home first and second place in their division.
Also known as “Gabby,” Murillo has been an Marlboro County High School wrestling phenom as she continues to improve and dominate in the 105-pound weight division. This was her first year entering the Southeast Super Regional Championship Tournament, and she plans to come back next year to take it all. Murillo came up short by one match, putting her in second place.
On the other hand, Kiersten Graham, the first-year underdog, swept in and took gold. Although this is her first year wrestling — and the beginning of her season was rocky — Graham entered the tournament with high confidence in her capabilities due to both her resilient training, and learning what it means to have all the tools it would take to become a competitive wrestler.
Both of the wrestlers’ remarkable hard work is continuing to pay off.
Keep poundin’ ladies and don’t let up, you’re just getting started …
