Repairs have started on Highway 381

After months of delays, repairs have started on Highway 381 in McColl.
The road and several others were damaged during Hurricane Florence in September of 2018.
At a recent county council meeting, County Administrator Ron Munnerlyn provided an update from S.C. Department of Transportation on the status of Highway 381 and three other roads-- Old Wire Road/Academy Road, Level Green Church Road, and David’s Mill Pond Road.
For Highway 381, an agreement between DOT and the property owner has been reached.
It will require the landowner to pay for the rebuilding of the dam according to plans, which have been reviewed and approved by S.C. DHEC.
Munnerlyn said DOT will build the road back on top of the new dam once the dam has been rebuilt.
No completion date has been set.
On Old Wire and Academy Road, DOT said DHEC is coordinating with the property owners since those are DHEC regulated dams. Once the property owners decide on a plan, the DOT will begin coordinating with them about building the roads back.
Work is almost completed for Level Green Church and David’s Mill Pond Roads with Aug. 15 as an initial completion but may run over.
