The Marlboro County High School Bulldogs toppled the Cheraw Braves 40-12 in a non-region game at home on Friday night.

Coach Quin McCollum attributed the victory to the team getting into a rhythm.

“We had some consistency going,” he said. “We had one special teams big play made by Purvis, and then we started taking advantage of what they were giving us.”

He added the team established their ground game in the second half.

“This is what made all the difference in the world,” he said. When asked what players he wanted to highlight, McCollum said everybody.

“Our seniors did an outstanding job,” he said. “Having leadership today, the coaching staff did an amazing job. We’re just happy to have a victory and give the fans something to celebrate.”

Next Friday, the Bulldogs travel to Laurinburg to take on Scotland High. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
