CLIO – Investigators with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred early Tuesday at a residence on Rosewood Drive in Clio.
According to Chief Deputy Larry Turner, a victim attempted to leave the location in their vehicle following a verbal altercation between themselves and Rashawn Rictavis Covington.
As the person was leaving, Covington opened fire with multiple shots striking the victim’s vehicle.
Covington was taken into custody today at a residence on Hemphill Circle, located in Clio, without incident. Turner said the victim was not injured during the reported incident.
Covington has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
He is incarcerated at the Marlboro County Detention Center and currently awaiting a bond hearing.
This case is being investigated by Investigator Jeffery Sessoms with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.
