A traffic stop on Wednesday (April 5) resulted in several drug charges for a man.
Detectives with the Bennettsville Police Department Detective Division observed a maroon Mitsubishi SUV traveling on SC 9 driven by 50-year-old Cephas Sturdivant.
Based on prior knowledge detectives knew Sturdivant’s driving privileges were suspended.
A traffic stop was initiated, and while talking with Sturdivant, detectives smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
Officials said a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle with detectives discovering and seizing a large quantity of powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.
Sturdivant was taken into custody without incident and charged with trafficking powder cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, and driving under suspension.
