BLENHEIM A Blenheim woman was arrested for attempted murder on Wednesday (Dec. 28) for an earlier assault on her mother.

According to Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Clay Anderson, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Driggers Chapel Road around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 19. in the Blenheim area about a fight in progress between mother and daughter.

While deputies with the Uniformed Patrol Division responded to the call for service, the 911 caller called back in and stated she had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the 911 caller (complainant) and learned Heather Knight, 34, of Blenheim was barricaded in a room inside the residence.

Anderson said deputies entered the residence and began to speak with Knight.

“Knight was armed with a knife and threatened to take her life multiple times,” Anderson said. “Knight also cut herself multiple times while deputies attempted to negotiate with her.”

Deputies eventually took Knight into custody, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment for her injuries sustained by cutting herself and to receive a psychological evaluation.

Anderson said it was found Knight had assaulted the victim with a walker while on top of the victim and also broke a television with a baseball bat. Knight was arrested on Wednesday upon her release from a medical facility, transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center, and was charged with attempted murder and malicious injury to personal property.
