Bennettsville —Thursday, the Pee Dee Coalition hosted the eighth annual Niah’s Lemonade Stand to stand against Domestic Violence for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Niah’s Lemonade Stand serves as a significant community event, fostering unity among residents of Bennettsville. The initiative provides an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to come together over a simple glass of lemonade.
“Niah’s Lemonade Stand spreads love and understanding. It’s the little things like this that can bring people together despite their political beliefs and negative feelings towards certain situations,” said Wendy Woods, the Marlboro County Services Coordinator.
The event emphasizes the importance of childhood innocence, highlighting that no child should experience or witness domestic violence. The coalition believes that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment.
In addition to raising awareness, Niah’s Lemonade Stand offers educational resources about domestic violence and the support available through the Pee Dee Coalition. Attendees had the chance to learn about local services, including counseling and legal assistance, aimed at helping victims and survivors. The event serves as a platform for advocacy and encourages community members to take an active role in supporting one another.
