Small Business Saturday is this weekend, and it is a chance to get a jump on holiday shopping while supporting local businesses.

According to the American Express Shop Small Impact survey, 56 percent of small businesses agree that this year’s Small Business Saturday is “more critical than ever for their business” and 78 percent reported that holiday sales will impact their ability to stay open in 2022.

The Marlboro Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Bennettsville have partnered to help citizens to shop local and support the small business community.

On Small Business Saturday (Nov. 27), shoppers and diners are encouraged to register at the Marlboro Chamber, 122 S. Marlboro Street, beginning at 10 a.m.

Shoppers will receive a “Small Business Saturday” tote bag filled with promotional items and a rack card listing participating downtown businesses.

To win a prize, all customers who have shopped or dined on Small Business Saturday can bring their receipts to the Chamber office between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Shoppers receive one raffle entry for each purchase made.

At 4 p.m., all winners will be selected and notified.

Last year, receipts from seven participating businesses showed that $3,820 of revenue came into downtown Bennettsville during Small Business Saturday.

Chamber Director Jessie Evans said Small Business Saturday is about helping the local community and encouraged the people to come out to the event.
