Officials detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office in Tahoe City, Calif. began conducting an investigation regarding child exploitation on Dec. 23, 2022.
This investigation stemmed from a cyber tip provided to them by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Officials said the tip concerned a suspect, later identified as Malachi Brickett, being in possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that was uploaded on Snap, Inc. (Snapchat) servers. In February of this year, Brickett was arrested and charged in Placer County, CA.
After further investigation it was revealed that on or about December 23, 2022, Boan and McQueen communicated with Brickett via Snapchat. During that communication, arrangements were made for Brickett to send money to the Cashapp account identified as belonging to Boan. The money Brickett sent was in exchange for the production and dissemination of child sexual abuse material by Boan and McQueen to be sent to Brickett. Investigators did confirm that this activity took place within Marlboro County.
Both Boan and McQueen were booked into the Marlboro County Detention Center, Boan received a $ 50,000 surety bond with GPS ankle monitor as a condition of the bond and McQueen received a $ 20,000 surety bond.
Brickett has already been taken into custody in Placer County, Calif.
