Marlboro Academy will have its annual Christmas concerts on Thursday, Dec. 8.
Music Teacher Mary Louise Baker said, “Christmas Around the World” is a spectacular way to get into the Christmas spirit, not only to hear familiar carols from around the world, but also to demonstrate peace within these diverse customs.
The shows are at 10 a.m. for kindergarten-second grades, at 3 p.m. for third-sixth grades, and at 5 p.m. for seventh-tenth grades.
The “Christmas Around the World” show will feature countries from all over the world and their customs at Christmas time.
The songs will be in Chinese, Swahili, French, German, and more.
Baker said each show will run for about 50 minutes and are entertaining, enlightening, and touching. “Students speaking or singing about other countries in the show will dress up in attire that represents that particular country,” she said.
The students and Baker have worked preparing for the shows by building the set, representing carols from different countries, such as the Eiffel Tower, Great wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and more.
“These high quality, dynamic, timeless songs will surely be impressed upon the minds of my students forever, and that’s a beautiful thing,” Baker said. “I hope you can join us for this beautiful way to acknowledge customs from all other the world at Christmastime, including our own…the good ole USA.”
