MARLBORO COUNTY— The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate incidents following a busy end-of-the-week in Marlboro County: a shooting at a nightclub near Bennettsville and the drowning of a juvenile male in the McColl/Clio area of the county.
Shooting Investigation
The shooting occurred early Sunday morning at Old Mallie Road in the Sandhills area of Marlboro County at Jacky Bar and Lounge, where preliminary information indicates a party was being held when a physical altercation broke out.
During the incident, two women were reportedly struck several times with a firearm, and a male party was also shot. Several people involved in the incident sought medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
Deputies and investigators are continuing to work towards determining the circumstances surrounding the altercation and shooting.
On Monday, investigators announced charges against Tyshaun Williams in connection with the incident that include three counts of assault and battery of a high aggravated nature, aggravated breach of peace, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by persons prohibited.
Williams has since been transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center.
Linda Quick was also arrested in connection with Sunday’s shooting incident and taken into MCSO custody September 14, following discovery that Jacky Bar and Lounge is not an officially licensed establishment as the business lacked a legitimate liquor license. Quick is charged with the unlawful sale of alcoholic liquors, operating a place of amusement without a license, failure to secure a beer/ wine permit, unlawful liquor possession in a business and resisting arrest. Quick was transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center following her arrest.
Drowning Death Investigation
In a separate case, MCSO deputies responded to the Bluff in the McColl/Clio area of Marlboro County after receiving a report Friday of a juvenile male drowning. According to eyewitness reports from the scene, concerns were raised when the swimming teen failed to resurface.
Marlboro County Coroner DeAron Smith requested assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Child Fatality Unit with the investigation.
