FLORENCE, SC — Florence County Sheriff’s Office investigators have made a sixth arrest in an ongoing theft case tied to QVC, according to officials.
Margaret A. McDonald, 49, of Donna Lane in Bennettsville, was taken into custody on August 28, 2026, and charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent under South Carolina law. Investigators said the arrest followed work with QVC’s Global Security Operations team.
McDonald is accused of improperly altering return transactions for items she purchased through QVC. Authorities further allege she worked with QVC employees to obtain more than $21,000 in refund credits for merchandise that was never returned. The case remains active, and officials said more arrests are expected.
McDonald is employed as a teacher with the Marlboro County School District, according to the district’s website.
“In accordance with Marlboro County School District Board Policy GBEB, the Superintendent is authorized to take appropriate employment action when a staff member has been arrested,” the district said in a released statement. “Ms. McDonald has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending resolution of the criminal matter. Because this is an active criminal case and a personnel matter, the District is limited in what it can share and will continue to follow all applicable laws, policies, and procedures. The District remains committed to maintaining a safe and uninterrupted learning environment for students.”
