MARLBORO COUNTY — The Pee Dee Coalition continues to provide hope, safety, and support to individuals and families throughout Marlboro County through victim advocacy, prevention education, and family-centered services, the nonprofit serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and family violence while working to strengthen families and increase community awareness.
Pee Dee Coalition Marlboro Satellite Crisis Center is one of eight satellite crisis centers in the Pee Dee area, accepts both self-referrals and agency referrals, offers confidential life skills sessions, victim advocacy services, and parenting classes designed to promote healthy relationships and family stability. Local services are coordinated by Marlboro Services Coordinator Katrina Stephens, Victim Advocate Briana Zimmerman, and PEPS Parenting Coordinator Sharon Woodham.
Recently, The Marlboro Center staff partnered with the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) and local law enforcement agencies through its “Bridging the Gap” series, an initiative focused on improving communication, collaboration, and support services for families in need.
Pee Dee Coalition also provides access to a 24-hour Crisis Line at (843) 669-4694 or toll-free at 1-800-273-1820, offering immediate confidential assistance to victims. Emergency shelter services are available for individuals fleeing dangerous situations, as well as the New Beginnings Transitional Shelter, which helps survivors work toward long-term stability and independence.
As October approaches, community members are encouraged to watch for upcoming Domestic Violence Awareness Month events and activities throughout Marlboro County. This year’s regional DVAM theme is 40- Years Strong: Breaking Silence, Building Hope.”
