BENNETTSVILLE — Though Brew and Bake is well known in Bennettsville for its mouthwatering baked goods, creative drinks, and oh so delicious, comforting coffee, as of July 23, 2026, the local caffeine hub is serving up frozen sweet treats. To celebrate this new chapter in their business, Brew and Bake hosted a grand re-opening ribbon cutting Thursday night from 5 to 9 p.m.
Customers, well-wishers, and of course, the Marlboro County Chamber came to congratulate Brew and Bake owner Lora Biron and the rest of her hardworking crew.
Following the night’s festivities, the Marlboro Chamber said, “We are thrilled to see such an incredible turnout this evening as our community comes together to support another exciting addition to Bennettsville. On behalf of the Marlboro Chamber of Commerce, we wish Brew & Bake continued success with this new venture and cannot wait to see it become a favorite gathering spot for families and friends.”
When the Herald Advocate stopped by earlier in the day, Biron was dealing with a few setbacks but remained optimistic.
“Absolutely nothing can get me down today. I am so excited! Not even the weather,” Biron chuckled, gesturing out the window at the pouring rain. She added, “We are very excited to offer ice cream, which is something Marlboro County has really needed for a long time.”
Biron also teased ice cream is only just the beginning of the surprises she has in store for her community. “We have lots of great ideas for future projects, this is just the beginning so stayed tuned.”
She says Brew and Bake’s daytime bakery and coffee hours will remain the same, however she says they are now offering new weekend and evening hours for ice cream— giving customers more opportunities to stop by and snag a sweet treat.
“We really want to make sure we are accessible to all,” Biron said. “Whether you work during the day or don’t have weekends off.”
Brew and Bake’s new evening and weekend hours for ice cream are Tuesday through Friday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Biron’s staff also could not hide their excitement to be bringing new options to their community. Courtney Gibbs, a two-year employee with Brew and Bake, says of the 20 ice cream flavors offered, her top three favorites are Peanut Butter Caramel, Cookie Dough, and Cappuccino Crunch.
“We are so excited about this because it is something we have really talked about for a while,” Gibbs said.
With so much buzz about town, Brew and Bake staff were filling ice cream cones and bowls well before the start of their ribbon cutting.
Local resident Jaquilla Covington said, “I’m on my break and its hot so I thought it would be a good time to have ice cream.”
