BENNETTSVILLE—Shrugging off Saturday’s rain, Nesha Cantina said she would be holding her annual Anti-Bullying Back-to-School Bash rain or shine. Cantina organizes the event every year in honor of her daughter Nah’Zia, whom she lost to suicide from bullying.
“Well, look at God, He did it again,” Cantina praised, adding, “Another successful year is in the books! We had a little rain, but not enough to stop what God already ordained.”
During the event, many backpacks stuffed with school supplies were handed out to students.
“We were able to give out over 200 backpacks today and my heart is so full,” Cantina shared, adding, “I am beyond thankful for every single person who believes in Nah’Zia’s Corner, prayed for us, donated, volunteered, sponsored, set up a table, or simply showed up to support our families. It truly takes a village, and today our village showed up in a big way.”
In addition to supplies, students were also treated to on-site back-to-school haircuts, face painting by the county renown Face Painting Sisters, food, music, food and clothing giveaways, as well as other activities for students and their families to enjoy together.
Following the success of her event, Cantina shared, “Nah’Zia’s Corner exists because of a purpose God placed on my heart and I pray that we can continue to be a blessing to our community for many years to come. I know my sweet Nah’Zia was smiling down on us today.”
