CLIO — Mayor of Clio Adam Pate announced Tuesday that the town of Clio is officially on time—financially that is—sharing that for the first time in 20 years Clio has submitted its annual audit to the state by deadline. The mayor added that Clio is also 100% clear on all its annual audits, paving the way for the town to more aggressively pursue grants that, if granted, will go a long way towards the mayor and council’s goal of revitalization.
“Today, I am incredibly proud to share some historic news with the citizens of Clio. As mayor, it brings so much excitement, as this is something that has truly hindered us for so many years. Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow,” Mayor Pate said in a released statement online.
Mayor Pate says the historic achievement is due to years of hard work, dedication, and a commitment by the town to restore financial stability.
“Our annual audits with the state of South Carolina are now deemed up to date,” Pate said, adding, “This accomplishment did not happen overnight. It is the result of countless hours of work by our past and present town council members, our amazing Robyn Jacobs, auditors, and everyone who has played a part in helping put Clio back on solid financial footing. Together, we made a commitment to do things the right way, and today we celebrate the results of that commitment.”
Honoring his commitment to continuing to provide fellowship opportunities, and reasons for residents to celebrate, the mayor announced his desire to showcase this important milestone, a victory he says belongs to the people of Clio, in a very special way.
Pate announced he and Clio’s Town Council’s plan to host a Community Family Day in September — a day Pate says will be dedicated to bringing Clio together for food, fun, fellowship, and celebration.
In that spirit, Mayor Pate says he needs Clio’s help in undertaking the endeavor.
He said, “We want this to be a special event for everyone, and we need your help! What would you like to see at our Community Family Day :live music? Food trucks? Games and inflatables? A family field day? A movie at the park? A fireworks show? Let’s make this a celebration that reflects the spirit of Clio—a community that believes in moving forward together.” Pate continued, “While we know there is still a lot of work to be done, today is proof that when we work together, we can accomplish great things. Thank you for believing in our town. The best is yet to come. We are Clio strong!”
