Voters returned to the polls Tuesday to determine a winner for the Marlboro County Council District 4 seat and two statewide offices during the runoff election.

Pearly Lawson received 149 votes (57.98%) while Thomas Pie Johnson received 108 (42.02%).

All results are unofficial until they are certified later this week by Marlboro County Elections and Voter Registration.

For the U.S. Senate, Catherine Fleming Bruce and Krystle Matthews faced off for the Democratic U.S. Senate seat. Matthews had 25,224 votes (55.78%) while Bruce had 19,998 (44.22%).

Matthews will run against Incumbent Republican Senator Tim Scott for the November Election. Scott ran unopposed. Kathy Maness and Ellen Weaver competed for the Republican nomination to become the next Superintendent of Education. Weaver had 111,426 (63.91%); and Maness had 62,930 (36.09%).

Weaver will face Democrat Lisa Ellis in November.
