A Bennettsville man was arrested after a knife assault early Sunday morning on Brushy Bay Road.

According to Investigator Clay Anderson, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Brushy Bay Road in the Bennettsville area of the county at 2:05 a.m. on Sunday about an assault with a knife.

Deputies and investigators arrived on the scene and found an adult male suffering from a serious laceration to his face.

Anderson said deputies and Investigators ascertained that an argument between the victim and the suspect occurred leading to the suspect slashing the victim’s face with a knife.

The suspect, Rocky Lee Quick Jr, 31, of Bennettsville fled the scene after the assault but was arrested a short time later at another residence in the Bennettsville area of Marlboro County.

Anderson said Quick was transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center where he received a $25,000 surety bond on the charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
