Wallace man charged in Sunday morning shooting

A Wallace man has been charged in an early Sunday morning shooting.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Coattail Road in the Bennettsville area of Marlboro County after midnight on Sunday about a shooting incident.

Upon arrival, deputies with the Uniformed Patrol Division located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg.

Investigator Clay Anderson said deputies were able to arrest Kenric Lee Liles, 42, of Wallace.

Liles was still on scene and deputies were able to recover the shotgun used in the shooting.

Anderson said deputies and investigators learned there was an argument between Liles and the victim, which led to the shooting.

Liles was transported to the Marlboro County Detention where he was given a $75,000 surety bond on the charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
