CLIO — City streets were treated to a glow up in Clio Saturday when volunteers, led by Adrian Kinney, joined Marlboro’s recent countywide clean-up efforts.

Kinney, who is running for county council in District 8 and organized the event, said working together as a community is where real change happens.

“I drive around and I see a lot we can do both inside and outside city limits to improve. It speaks a lot about a town when its streets are clean and well maintained. We want to encourage growth and development — this is how we start,” Kinney said, adding he was impressed with the turnout.

“We probably had close to seven or eight volunteers. I know we held the cleanup after the egg hunt, so folks were tired, but I really do hope to see even more folks show up for future similar events. It truly is a blessing to see the community taking pride in where they live,” Kinney continued. “It was exciting seeing how much we accomplished working together as a group.”

Rolling up his sleeves, Mayor Adam Pate was also on hand Saturday picking up trash and filling garbage bags.

“It felt great to be able to do our part along with the rest of the county. I think this was a great event and I’m honored to be a part of it. Adrian [Kinney] organized the event and its been great seeing so many people take an interest in keeping trash off our roads,” Pate praised.
