At 11:54 p.m., officers with the BPD responded to a home on Fletcher Street following a report of an apartment being hit with a bullet. At the scene, officers discovered the front door was hit three times and the front window of the apartment was struck once by a bullet, which then traveled through the home and hit the wall of the home’s living room. The caller/victim stated to officers that both she and her two sons were all present inside of the residence when the shots rang out. Following an investigation of the scene, officers located thirteen .40 cal. shell casings and one projectile; all items collected were entered into evidence. Property damage is valued at $2,000. Case is active.
March 15
At 12:42 a.m., officers with the BPD responded to an area on West Street in reference to a reported shooting. While at the scene investigating, a resident from across the street came over to officers and stated their home had been struck by gunfire. Officers then walked over with the resident and photographed the observable damage to his home. According to reports, it appeared that the projectile traveled through the victim’s front window, striking a wall inside the living room of the residence. The victim said he was lying down in his bedroom when he heard what he believed to be gunfire. He said he then got up and saw blue lights flashing in the area through a hole in his curtain. It was at that point the victim discovered a bullet had come through his front window. Damage to the victim’s home is valued at $2,500. Case is active.
At 12:30 a.m., officers with the BPD responded to a residence on Lee Street following a report of property damage because of gunshots. At the scene, the victim said she heard numerous gunshots near her home. She also stated that she and the three juveniles who were in residence with her all observed several bullet holes. A bullet projectile was found by one of the victims inside a dresser drawer. Officers photographed the scene and located 23 shell casings outside the home, that officers reported appearing consistent with .223 rounds. All items were collected and entered into evidence. Property damage to the home is valued at $2,500. Case is active.
At 7:00 p.m., officers with the BPD responded to a residence on West Main Street following a reported bullet hole lodged inside a window of the home. At the scene, officers spoke with the victim who said he observed a bullet coming through his window earlier that day and wished to now report it. The victim said he did not know what time the shooting up of his window occurred, but he guessed it was sometime that day as he also reported to officers that he heard gunshots in the area. According to the victim, his home was struck twice, and both bullets entered the home. Property damage is valued at $2,000. Case is active.
At 12:42 a.m., officers with the BPD responded to a residence on West Street following the report of the attempted murder of five individuals and vandalism to property. Prior to arrival, dispatch informed officers’ gunshots were heard in the area and that a female caller had called in the incident. At the scene, the victim told officers her home had just been shot and appeared frantic and frightened. She also stated that her friend was inside the residence in pain and holding her knee. When officers asked if anyone had been struck by the gunfire, the victim said she did not believe so, however, she said that her friend did need EMS. Inside the home, officers located the female lying on a bed, holding her knee and screaming in pain. Officers noted observing swelling and visible scratches on the victim’s knee. The female said she had recently undergone a medical procedure and fell to the floor, injuring her knee, when the gunfire struck the residence. Outside the home, officers speaking with the caller learned she was outside the residence at the time of the incident and observed someone in a white Cadillac with dark tinted windows driving by the home slowly. She then said she saw the vehicle continue onto Court Street before parking along the roadway. The victim claimed she also heard two male voices coming from behind her residence, before she heard the two men begin firing gunshots in her direction. Officers located two bullet strikes on the residence, one in the back porch area of the home, and the other located on the glass at the home’s back door. Altogether, officers located several 9 mm shell casings in a nearby abandoned yard located between Court Street and the backyard of the victim’s home. The scene was photographed and items discovered at the scene were gathered and entered into evidence. Officers also spoke with other victims inside the residence involved in the incident, including two small children. Property damage is valued at $2,000. Case is active.
March 16
At 12:30 p.m., officers with the BPD responded to a residence on Everett Street following a report of assault and battery first degree. At the scene, officers found the caller outside, while her two children were still inside the home. The female suddenly heard a gunshot sound from inside the home and ran to go inside, when her two children met her at the front door. Officers then observed her picking up her son and running with him out of the home, as her daughter followed behind them. She further stated she saw the gunman inside her home as she turned to flee with her children. Officers on scene reported also seeing the gunman inside the home. The victim and her children ducked down behind the officer’s patrol car, and from this vantage point the female also stated to officers the motive for the gunfire stemmed from the gunman’s belief that her children were being too loud. When officers called for the suspect to exit the home with his hands up, he complied and was then subsequently taken into custody. When asked where he stashed the weapon, he stated it was located right of the front door. Officers were able to retrieve the weapon, which was cleared from being involved in any other known crimes. Case is closed by arrest.
At 1:21 p.m., officers with the BPD responded to a residence on Virginia Circle following a report of assault and battery third degree resulting from a fight between a mother and her daughter. As officers exited their patrol cars screams could be heard from within the residence. Quickly responding, officers rushed to the front of the home in time to observe two females in the process of actively fighting. Both females were known to law enforcement. Officers observed the daughter, Denise Graham, swinging on her mother, Laura Ingram, with one hand while using the other to grasp a clutch of her mother’s hair. The matriarch was also observed swinging on her daughter. Officers immediately entered the residence, breaking up the fight and dispersing the combatants to their separate corners. Next, officers placed both females under arrest without further incident. Mother and daughter were charged with assault and battery third degree and transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center. Case closed by arrest.
