BLENHEIM — A lockdown was issued Tuesday morning at Blenheim Middle School of Discovery, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office [MCSO], following a reported vehicle pursuit initiated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol [SCHP].
During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed and both men fled the scene. After exiting the vehicle, both suspects entered school grounds.
After one suspect was detained by a school resource officer in the school’s parking lot, the other man attempted to hide in a nearby swamp, requiring the use of a drone to locate him.
Once apprehended, both Charlie Blackmon and Brian Blackmon were charged with disturbing schools. Charlie is also charged with an outstanding fugitive from justice warrant in Tennessee.
Both suspects are currently housed inside the Marlboro County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings and possible additional charges from SCHP.
Blenheim Middle School of Discovery officials stated there was no threat to life or property during the apprehension of both Blackmons, and the school had resumed its normal operations by 10 a.m. Tuesday.
