MCCOLL — Following a search warrant served by the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Monday evening in the John Street area of Bennettsville, David Ward was taken into custody without incident on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a weapon by a person convicted of certain crimes (felony) and the unlawful carry of a pistol.
The warrant against Ward was issued following a shooting that occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning at Ellison Club, also known as E&W Sports Bar, in the McColl community.

The victim was then assisted to a nearby medical care facility, where the decision was made to airlift the victim to another medical facility for surgical care.
At time of print, no further information is known regarding the patient’s condition.
