CHERAW Twenty-one students were recognized on May 10 at a pinning ceremony for graduates of Northeastern Technical College’s phlebotomy program.

During the ceremony, students were also presented with their certificates of completion.

The NETC Phlebotomy Class of 2022 included: Letina Austin of Pageland, Summer Bennett of Laurinburg, Takia Bethea of Dillon, Zorriyah Bethea of Dillon, Danielle Brown of Society Hill, Kaylena Burgess of Latta, Alexia Clark of McColl, Kayla Combs of Hartsville, Brittany Covington of Cheraw, Mechelle Cranford of Chesterfield, Jasmine Ellison of Cheraw, Christina England of Chesterfield, Sharona Ford of Bennettsville, Madison Gaipo of Mt. Croghan, Aidan Geissler of Patrick, Krista Little of Cheraw, Shalonda Stroman of Dillon, Ajana Tyson of Dillon, Blannie Warren of Dillon, Alexi White of Chesterfield, and Donnica Whitefield of Bennettsville.

The phlebotomy program at NETC is 7.5 weeks long and designed to teach entry-level phlebotomy skills to students interested in pursuing a career in phlebotomy.

Students are required to complete 100 clinical hours and 40 venipunctures before they are allowed to take the National Board Certification Exam through the National Healthcare Association.

The Phlebotomy program is offered every semester at Northeastern Technical College and lasts approximately 7.5 weeks.

Financial assistance is available through federal grants and SNAP recipients may qualify for 100% scholarship funding through the SNAP2Work program.
