BRIGHTSVILLE — The Brightsville Fire Department (BFD) recently held their annual Awards Night. Three firefighters were honored for their hard work: Will Parrish received recognition for answering the most calls and was also nominated Firefighter of the Year, and Buck Quick was honored for his over 35 years of dedicated and exemplary service to the Brightsville community and his fellow firefighting team.

Joining the Brightsville Fire Department this past March, Zachary Quick was awarded the Sydney McInnis Award, meaning most improved.

“This is my first award as a firefighter, and I can’t even put into words — it just means so much to me,” says Quick, continuing, “I joined in March and I’m glad I have been able to help out as much as I have. I am thankful to know that all my hard work has not gone unnoticed.”

Quick says he previously worked with the Clio Fire Department but has really found his home at BFD.

“I grew up here ever since I was young. My parents and grandparents live here so this community means family to me. I am proud to be with the BFD,” says Quick, adding that he looks forward to a long and successful career serving his hometown.
