MARLBORO COUNTY — Local artist Daishanna Pearson brought a wave of creativity and connection to Marlboro County with her recent showcase, On Our Soil: Creative Exhibition. The event highlighted the unique styles of several artists while creating a space for reflection, healing, and community growth.
Pearson described the vision behind the show: “On Our Soil: Creative Experience was something I’ve been holding in my heart for a while. I wanted to create a space where artists could not only share their gifts with the community, but also connect with one another, network, and grow together as a collective. With the theme ‘Visual Stories Rooted in Identity, Grown with Intention,’ the show was all about reflection, healing, and moving with purpose.” The exhibition featured works by Raymond Burton, Wendy Woods, Dominique Hodge, Timothy Green, T’Ahsia Graham, Jeffrey Marcus, LaToya C. Thompson, Spencer Whittington, Alisha McRae, and Wanda Woods, each bringing their own powerful voice to the evening.
Pearson emphasized that this is only the beginning. “On Our Soil was planted as a seed, and I can’t wait to see how it continues to grow,” she said.
With its raw, authentic energy, the exhibition not only celebrated art but also set the stage for Marlboro County to embrace a new wave of cultural expression.
