BENNETTSVILLE — The Marlboro County High School Mighty Marching Bulldog Band proudly represented the county on Sunday, September 21, 2025, when they traveled to Mullins, SC, to compete in the prestigious Tobacco City Battle of the Bands (B.O.T.B.) at Mullins High School.

The band delivered a show-stopping performance and brought home multiple honors across categories, including:

• 1st Place – Dance Line

• 2nd Place – Flag Line

• 1st Place – Drum Major

• 1st Place – Drumline

• Tied with Dillon – Best Marching

• 1st Place – General Effect

• 2nd Place – Music

• 1st Place – Superior Rating

Originally, the students were told on the day of the competition that they placed second overall. However, this was later found to be a mistake. The band also won 1st Place – Band Class AAA.

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, Mr. Kyrone Williams, Band Director of Mullins High School, surprised the band students with the exciting announcement that they were, in fact, the Overall Grand Champions. Excitement filled the room as students celebrated the recognition they rightfully earned. Special thanks go to Mr. Williams for his honesty and for exemplifying excellence in leadership.

This success comes under the incredible leadership of Band Director Mr. Tyrone Wagner, whose vision and commitment continue to elevate the band program and inspire students to perform with excellence.

“This championship is just the beginning,” said Mr. Wagner. “Our students have proven what’s possible when passion meets perseverance, and I know this is only the start of greater things to come.”

The Marlboro County High School Mighty Marching Bulldog Band continues to demonstrate that excellence in music, discipline, and school spirit is alive and thriving in Marlboro County.
