BENNETTSVILLE — The Bennettsville Police Department welcomed the public to meet interim, and soon to be new, Chief Sammy Crosland at an open house held last Thursday from 11 a.m. -2 p.m.
Though Crosland has worked with the department for 28 years, as an officer and as assistant chief, the department wanted to give any residents who don’t know him a chance to meet him in a low-key environment.
Visitors not only got to meet the future chief, but were treated to a tour of the station, some BPD swag (cups, pens, hand sanitizer, etc.), and a meal of hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
Chief Crosland’s installation ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 7 at 3 p.m. at the Bennettsville Community Center at 714 N. Marlboro Street.
The public is invited to attend.
