BENNETTSVILLE — In a three-candidate race, CyHeim McCrae appears to have secured a seat on the Bennettsville City Council.
The special election is to fill the seat left vacant by Tyron Abraham, who went on to win the Bennettsville mayoral race in December.
Marlboro County Voter Registration and Elections Office Director Christina Thompson said Ken Stroman, Christina Pearson, and CyHeim McCrae were all vying for the seat.
Unofficial race results show McCrae with 77% of the vote, Pearson garnered 18%, and Stroman picked up roughly 4%.
Thompson said voter turnout has been extremely low, with fewer than 30 people voting by 1:45 Tuesday afternoon.
She added that about 24 people voted during early voting. Unofficial results show a total of 115 voters turned out for the special election.
