“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of Mr. Ronald Henegan, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, a true pillar of our school district and community. He was the devoted husband of former House Representative Patricia Moore Henegan.

“Mr. Henegan’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication and transformative leadership. His groundbreaking tenure as the first African American Chairman of the Marlboro County School District’s Board of Education, from 1997 to 2006, stands as a testament to his commitment to educational excellence and equitable opportunity for all. His visionary guidance during this period left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and families.

“Prior to his chairmanship, Mr. Henegan served with distinction as the Director of Marlboro County Adult Education from 1990 to 1997, empowering adults to achieve their educational and professional goals. His impact extended further as the Principal of Blenheim High School in 1988, where he nurtured and inspired a generation of young minds.

“Mr. Henegan’s contributions extended far beyond his professional roles; he was a beacon of hope and a source of strength for our entire community. His wisdom, compassion, and unwavering belief in the potential of others will be deeply missed.

“A celebration of Mr. Henegan’s remarkable life was held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Berea Convention Center, located at 1062 SC-38, Bennettsville, SC 29512.

“During this time of profound grief, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Henegan family. We offer our unwavering support and pray that they find comfort and strength in the cherished memories they hold dear.
