MARLBORO COUNTY — On Saturday, March 15, Marlboro County partnered with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) to conduct a successful cleanup of Crooked Creek.
County officials said the effort marks an important step forward in addressing flooding concerns as well as working towards the restoration of Lake Paul Wallace.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to Litter Control Officer Dougie Hinson, Public Safety Assistant Chief Charles Lemon, and SCDNR Director Mullikin for their leadership in coordinating this initiative,” officials said.
The county offered a special thank you to Senator JD Chaplin, Representative Jason Luck, Former Senator Mia McLeod, City of Bennettsville Mayor Tyron Abraham, County Administrator Tony Clyburn, City Administrator William Simon, County Director of Operations Jamal Campbell, the Marlboro County Public Safety Team, the SCDNR Team, and all the dedicated community volunteers for their ongoing support and commitment to improving the well-being of the community.
“Together, we are making meaningful strides in preserving and enhancing our local environment,” they said.
