BENNETTSVILLE — Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members at Marlboro County High School (MCHS) proudly celebrated FBLA Spirit Week, an annual event that highlights leadership, career preparation and professional growth.

Held during National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, this week served as a key moment in the FBLA membership year, bringing students together to embrace the values of business education and leadership.

FBLA Week kickoff with city leaders

MCHS FBLA launched the week with a special meeting featuring newly elected Mayor Tyrone Abraham and City Administrator William Simon Jr. Co-presidents Jamison Bethea and Johanna Reed met with these city officials as they signed a proclamation officially declaring February 9-15 as FBLA Week.

During the meeting, Mayor Abraham shared insights into his daily responsibilities and provided students with valuable advice on achieving success. City Administrator Simon emphasized the significance of emotional intelligence and a diverse mindset, encouraging students to embrace adaptability and remain open to different perspectives — key skills for future leaders.

Engaging activities throughout the week

MCHS FBLA members participated in a variety of activities to promote professional development and school spirit:

Dress for Success Day – Students dressed in business attire, showcasing professionalism.

Spirit Day – Members proudly wore their FBLA t-shirts to represent their organization.

Social Media Highlights – Senior Jamison Bethea led a campaign featuring members’ photos and their favorite leadership quotes, along with reflections on what FBLA means to them.

Career Education Showcase – Senior members Johanna Reed and Lindsay Haitcock created a bulletin board display in the CATE department, highlighting the many career paths available through Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

A community effort for success

MCHS FBLA extends sincere gratitude to Mayor Tyrone Abraham, City Administrator William Simon Jr., and MCHS Principal, Assistant Principals, and the CATE for their support in making FBLA Week a resounding success.
