• On February 1, 2025, Kasiya Yannaisa Deyonu Bostic and Kamari Yama’s McCoy were reportedly involved in an altercation resulting in the beating of a female victim at 139 Woods Avenue, Clio, SC. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim was at her residence when the two individuals approached her, attempting to initiate a physical confrontation. A verbal altercation ensued, leading the victim to attempt to retreat, at which time the subjects pursued the victim, and both individuals allegedly assaulted the victim, striking her several times about the face and body. Both individuals have been arrested and charged with assault by mob on February 5, 2025, and are currently being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.

• On February 2, 2025, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report on Laurin Willis Rd, to interview a victim who alleged being involved in a physical altercation on Church Street in Clio, where victims reported being physically assaulted and shot at. The investigation revealed that Kenya Ghana Monroe and Nivea Shanhay Bostic allegedly committed assault by striking the victim multiple times. James Hayward Sewell was observed pointing a firearm at a second victim’s head while making threats. A third suspect is being investigated for possible involvement stemming from an altercation the previous day in Marlboro County. Bostic and Monroe have been charged and arrested for assault by mob and criminal conspiracy. James Hayward Sewell has also been charged and arrested for pointing and presenting a firearm and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. All parties were transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center without incident and await a bond hearing.

• On February, 7,2025, Deputies from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence incident on Red Hill Rd, in the Bennettsville area of Marlboro County. Following an investigation involving the parties, it was determined that a verbal altercation escalated into violence, with James Love, the husband, pulling the victim’s hair and striking the victim multiple times, resulting in visible injuries. Based on statements and visual evidence, the perpetrator was arrested by Deputy King and charged with domestic violence, then transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center without incident, where bond will be set at a later date.

• On February 7, 2025, Phillip Covington was observed operating a motor vehicle on Chavis Cemetery Rd/Grant Rd by Investigator Josh Hatcher, who was aware of an outstanding bench warrant issued for Covington. A traffic stop was subsequently initiated. Incident to arrest, a clear plastic bag containing a white powder substance believed to be cocaine was discovered on his person. Covington was taken into custody for the outstanding bench warrant and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and transported to Marlboro County Detention Center without incident, where he awaits a bond hearing.

• On February 11, 2025, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance on Pegues Circle in the Wallace area of Marlboro County. Deputies encountered Amir Gingham in the front yard of the residence, who was visibly irate and irrational. Gingham had been engaged in a verbal altercation with a family member, his mother, when he allegedly committed an act of physical violence against her. The suspect had issued multiple threats to family members, stating that law enforcement would be required to use lethal force upon arrival. Deputies successfully employed de-escalation techniques and took the suspect into custody without further incident. This outcome highlights the effectiveness of a calm and measured approach in a potentially volatile situation. Gingham was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and assault. He was transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center without incident, where he awaits a bond hearing.
