Saturday, August 20, was a very special and exciting day for the Blenheim High School Class of 1972.

Twenty-one classmates, along with guests and two former teachers and their guests, gathered at Genesis Restaurant in Bennettsville for a time of food, fellowship, and fun.

Spencer Smith, Sr. presided over the event. Lowell Odom Gibson shared Scripture, and prayer was given by Rev. Patricia Nicholson Murray.

The attendees then sang the school alma mater. Rollette Pratt gave the welcome, and Carnell Baker, class president, gave the purpose. Recognition of classmates and faculty was made by Albert K. Williams.

Faculty members in attendance were Louise David, math and biology teacher, and her husband, John Willie David; and Ronald Henegan, who taught science, physical education, and was the boys’ basketball coach, and his wife, Patricia Moore Henegan, who happened to be school secretary at that time.

After this, Deloris Blue Barrington came forth to remember deceased classmates. Throughout the afternoon, Jeretta Oliver Kinney and Carol Johnson Quick coordinated drawings and games. These two ladies made sure that everyone received a gift.

There were also moments of reflection, laughter, and thanksgiving from the classmates. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the staff of Genesis Restaurant, owned by Connie Covington, sister of classmate, Levon Evans.

The reunion ended with the closing address by Carnell Baker and the class sang their class song, “Little Green Freshmen”.

On Sunday morning several of the classmates, along with the Henegans, worshipped at Sandy Grove Baptist Church with classmate Shelia Bruce Covington.
