Gulf signage unveiled

Last Friday evening, the Bennettsville Bicentennial Committee hosted a dedication ceremony and street dance in “The Gulf”, the historically black business district on Market Street.  As well as unveiling an original Gulf sign at the corner of Market and Liberty Streets, new street banners and window graphics debuted, telling the story of The Gulf area.  Above, Marlboro County Council Chair Dr. Carolyn Prince and Bennettsville Mayor Heath Harpe unveil the sign.
