Fireworks show is Saturday
The City of Bennettsville Recreation Department will host its fourth annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show this Saturday at Lake Paul Wallace.
The people of Marlboro County and their guests are invited to a day of free fun and entertainment on the beach area of the lake.
New this year will be inflatables on the beach, which are to include a water slide and a soccer target game.
Food vendors will be on site, beginning at 2 p.m. The food trucks will offer a variety of meal, snack and beverage options. You are also allowed to bring a cooler if you prefer.
Local D.J. David Graham will be on-hand to provide music, also beginning at 2 p.m.
The band PaperWork from Myrtle Beach will take the stage at 6:30. PaperWork is a high-energy party band that covers tunes from groups ranging from Snoop Dogg to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Michael Jackson to Jimi Hendrix.
They also play a selection of original tunes in their own sense of “futuristic funk.”
Following the concert, at 9:30, fireworks will light up the sky celebrating America’s birthday. While the beach area is a prime viewing location, anyone in the lake area will have a great view of the show.
The Lake Wallace boat ramp will be open at 10 a.m. but for safety reasons, the Department of Natural Resources is limiting access to just 18 watercraft trailers. These will be on a first come, first serve basis.
The entire event, other than concessions, is free to the public.
