Man arrested in nightclub shooting case

A Bennettsville man was arrested Dec. 30 by the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office following an investigation into a nightclub shooting on Dec. 26.
According to Lt. Trevor Murphy,  the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Da Spot nightclub about shots fired during the early morning hours of Dec. 26. 
Upon arrival, deputies confirmed that a fight occurred inside the club, which led to a gun being fired. Two patrons inside the club were shot during this incident and received immediate medical attention. Both victims were airlifted to an area hospital for additional treatment. 
Murphy said as a result of the investigation, one arrest has been made. Donavan Marquesse C. Easterling, 24, was taken into custody by investigators with the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 30. Easterling has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. 
Easterling received a bond hearing at the Marlboro County Magistrate Court on Dec. 30 and is being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center. 
Murphy said this is an ongoing investigation and SLED is assisting to determine if any COVID protocols were violated.
